Birds of Tolo
Tremp Valley and its environs are attracting a lot of interest from bird watchers internationally. The diversity of habitats means there are a vast variety of birds to enjoy at most times of the year.
The most spectacular of course are the big birds of prey and vultures – there are well known nesting sites in the valley and surrounding mountains. The Griffon vultures are numerous and there are plenty of sightings of the majestic Lammergeier, Golden Eagles and Red and Black Kites.
In spring the Nightingale sings all night outside the window, in summer colourful noisy Bee-eaters chatter round the valley and keep your binoculars poised for the fleeting Golden Oriele and the exotic Hoopoe, amongst many other visitors.
We have plenty of local information, some good reference books and lots of maps. We can point you in the right direction for good sightings.
